Nelson Mandela Stamps from Germany and South Africa

Germany's only joint issue of 2018 was issued in July with South Africa. Like usual the the German Post also wanted to release some joint products, but due to some problems with the South African Post it took two months for them to arrive in Germany. When I bought the new German stamps on Thursday, I also bought the joint First Day Sheet.

North German Postal Union

On Thursday I bought the new German stamps.

As one of the main post offices of the North German Postal Union was located in my hometown, I got the new prepaid cover of the issue cancelled in my hometown on the First Day.

Children's Books in Montenegro

On 28th August I got my stamp order from Montenegro, which included my first mint stamps from this country.

Montenegro is a country in Southeastern Europe bordering on Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo and Albania. In 2006 the country declared its independence from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, the federation of Montenegro and Serbia established in 1992. It is a candidate negotiating to join the European Union. The country's capital is Podgorica.

World Bee Day

On 21st August I got a mint Slovenian souvenir sheet in a cover.

To highlight the role of bees and other pollinators for the ecosystem, the 20th May was declared as World Bee Day in 2018. It was proposed by Slovenia and the 20th May was chosen, as Anton Janša, the pioneer of beekeeping, was born on this day in 1734.
